Categories & Classes

A. Honey Contest For Individual Class

Classes for individuals are designed especially for those for whom beekeeping is a fascinating, occasionally profitable hobby, or an exciting small business.

All exhibits should be the genuine products of the exhibitors own apiary, and must be produced between Jan 1st, 2017 and Aug 1st, 2018.

Main requirements to the exhibiting bee/honey products are:

  • absence of any label or proof seal;
  • correct fill level;
  • uniformity of the exhibits that comprise the entry;
  • cleanliness and clarity of the product;
  • absence of contamination;
  • cleanliness of the packing materials;
  • granulated honey should have fine granulation, no frosting against the glass and no liquid residue on top of the honey.

What’s covered?

The 14th Asian Apicultural Association Conference Contest for individuals covers all main classes of bee products such as:

A1. Apis bees’ Extracted honey : Two jars of honey – any colour

A2. Apis bees’ Comb honey : Two sections of comb honey – any shape

A3. Stingless bees’ honey contest : Two jars of honey – any colour

NB: Exhibitors are responsible for unpacking, staging and repacking their exhibits.

B. Honey Contest For Commercial Class

Classes for commercial firms are specially created and designed for the bee product producers, traders, packers and other apicultural sector representatives from all over the world for whom beekeeping is the principal business.

All exhibits should be commercially available, correctly labeled as for sale.

Besides the general quality of the bee products the attractiveness of the labels and packed materials will be taken into consideration by the judges.

The Display classes will be judged not only on the product quality aspects but also on the esthetical attractiveness of the overall presentation.

What’s covered?

The 14th Asian Apicultural Association Conference Contest for commercials covers all main classes of bee products, such as:

B1. Apis bees’ Extracted honey : Two jars of honey – any colour, labeled and presented as for sale

B2. Apis bees’ Comb honey : Two sections of comb honey – any shape, labeled and presented as for sale

B3. Stingless bees’ honey contest : Two jars of honey – any colour, labeled and presented as for sale

NB: Exhibitors are responsible for unpacking, staging and repacking their exhibits.

C. Innovative Products (beekeeping technique or bee products innovation)

This contest is specially created and designed for all people for whom apiculture is an academic field, a professional occupation or a hobby beyond the apiary business itself.

C1. Innovations – a detailed illustrated description or prototype must be presented. Information on dimensions is required in advance. 

C2. Inventions – a working prototype must be presented. Information on dimensions is required in advance.

All exhibits must constitute the exclusive or shared intellectual property of the exhibitor. The subject should be related to bees or beekeeping. 

Besides the quality of the exhibits, the general attractiveness, overall presentation and genuine innovativeness will be taken into account by the judges.

Exhibits must be accompanied by a brief description (from 50 to 300 words) in English. The description must contain of the class but MUST NOT contain any information which may identify the exhibitor, be in logo, name, email, country, phone number etc.

Information on the dimensions is required in advance for innovation classes.

NB: Valuable exhibits must be presented by entrants in a special showcase with a window made to see the exhibit.

D. Photography contest

This contest is open to all participants of the 14th Asian Apicultural Association Conference.

Main requirements to photography contest are :

  • Each contestant may submit more than one (1) photograph
  • Photograph(s) must be original and have been taken within the year of 2016-2018 and may not previously have won any award
  • Photograph(s) should appropriate to the 14th AAA theme : “Bees, Environment and Sustainability”
  • Photograph(s) may not contain profanity, nudity, pornographic images, violent images, anti-competition messages, illegal material, or material that violates the rights of third parties.
  • Only minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable, as is minor cropping. Collage and montage are unacceptable.
  • The photograph(s), in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the contestant.
  • Contestant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the contestant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph.
  • Watermarks or any identity on photograph are unacceptable. 
  • Photograph of the winning and nominated contestants are entitled to be used by AAA (Asian Apiculture Association) and IAA (Indonesian Apiculture Association) for AAA’s and IAA’s interests at any case.
  • Each contestant only entitled to 1 (one) award. The decision of the jury is absolute and inviolable.

2. PHOTO EXHIBITION at AAA Conference venue :

  1. Print photo on 12R size (12 x 15 inch) glossy paper
  2. Print the “Registration Confirmation Form” that you’ll receive via email after you submit the Participation Form and Contest payment slip
  3. Deliver the photo to the Photo Competition Committee accompanied with Participation Form and Registration Confirmation Form

E. Best Booth Competition

All exhibition participants of the 14th Asian Apicultural Association Conference are participating on this competition immediately.

  • Booth cleanliness
